In addition, this position will be required to oversee and work closely with seasonal crew members, volunteers, and farm staff. You must like people and be devoted to practicing good communication skills, as well as enjoy solitary time working with the plants.
This is a full time salaried position from April-Nov, with potential for year-round employment. The salary will be prorated for the season to meet CO state salary requirements.
Benefits include 1 week PTO and end of year bonus. Potential for housing on site to be included in compensation package.
Reports directly to farm director.
Target Start Date: April 15 - May 1st
Primary Duties:
Coordinate with team to create bi-weekly harvest availability list
Prioritize harvest schedule to ensure an accurate, timely harvest
Perform harvesting duties in a timely manner; including but not limited to field harvest,
washing, processing, bagging and organizing deliveries for restaurants
Maintain awareness of crop quality in fields to ensure timely harvest
Monitor and optimize greens harvest yields in order to maximize salad harvest yields
throughout the duration of season (we take great pride in our salad mix!)
Ensure vegetables meet quality standards during harvesting and processing to regularly maintain (and exceed) chefs expectations
Work with and alongside production manager and crew completing field management tasks as needed. Tasks including but not limited to; seeding, transplanting, irrigation, bed prep,
and weed management.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of wash station, including ordering of new materials.
Deliveries to restaurants as needed
Occasional weekend farm maintenance duties
Desired Skills and Experience:
2-3 growing seasons working on a small-scale farm, bio-intensive farm, preferably in a
leadership role.
Working knowledge of different plant families and crop varieties
Ability to positively and effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, and customers
Enthusiasm for growing delicious food and sharing with the surrounding community
Ability to multi-task and stay organized while prioritizing and delegating harvesting tasks
Maintain a positive attitude in sometimes stressful and routine tasks
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in diverse weather conditions
Understanding that farming requires a flexible attitude and ability to adapt to situational conditions
Experience with a variety of farm tasks, including specialization/desire to focus on harvesting tasks Compensation this position is : salaried, 50k-75k Application instructions
