Job Description

As Spice Manufacturing Assistant you will assist in the daily functions of our artisan manufacturing facility. This role supports our manufacturing team with packing our products, ensuring an orderly workflow, performing quality assurance throughout, and upholding food safety compliance. 

 

Position Type: Non-Exempt FT  40+ hrs/wk

Schedule: Mon-Fri

Location: Winchester, MA

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing & Logistics

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Manufacturing and Packing
  • As assigned, pack, label, heat seal a variety of spices, blends, and secondary products.
  • Quality Assurance
  • Practice active First Expired First Out (FEFO) procedure
  • Maintain quality control of spices, blends and packaging
  • Practice observant communication
  • Food Safety Compliance
  • Complete assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the facility
  • Participate in active food safety requirements
  • Perform sanitation procedures

Requirements

  • Experience in food industry
  • Knowledge of spices and herbs including basic knowledge of common spice blends
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-starter, takes initiative
  • Ability to work independently
  • Communications skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Technical skills (ie, Google Drive, Excel)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs 
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19

  • Food Safety Certification
  • Experience in a fast-paced working environment
  • Experience in packing or production lines
  • Interest in working for a mission-driven company
  • Interest in food, spices, and global cuisines
  • Conversational ability in Spanish
