This position runs on a school schedule: mid August to early June, time off includes summer, winter and spring breaks, as well as school holidays.  The schedule is Monday thru Friday, 7AM call time (one day a week 6AM start) serving breakfast and lunch. 

If you love to create menus, and cook with seasonal green market ingredients while still maintaining a great work/life balance join our team! We are looking for hard working, positive, team players and creative chefs to join our unique and special kitchen. We work on a rotation of stations, including breakfast, prep, sandwich, hotline/meat, events, menu writing and composed dishes. We are a large operation with lots of opportunity for growth.

Must work with a sense of urgency and maintain an impeccably clean and organized work station and kitchen.

Duties also include some catered events, teaching cooking classes, working in Green Roof Garden. Chefs must have the flexibility to do any other tasks which may be necessary but are not specifically mentioned in this job description.  
 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Experience with high volume cooking (we serve 650/day) 
  • Kitchen Leadership
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must have a Food Handler’s License issued by the State or City of New York
  • Menu Writing, Planning & Ordering
     

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Proficiency with both English & Spanish
  • Culinary school training
  • College Degree with at least a BA or BS degree preferred
  • Experience working with children
