The Pastry Supervisor serves as the liaison between the pastry team + the cafes and reports to the Pastry Chef. This is a production role with administrative responsibilities + lots of learning opportunities. The right candidate is detail-oriented, organized + passionate about Poppy’s food philosophy.


REQUIREMENTS

  • The schedule for this position is Friday - Tuesday 5:00 am-1:00 pm
  • Positive + patient demeanor
  • Excellent verbal + written communicator
  • Extremely organized, attention to detail is your thing
  • Passionate about seasonality + working with our farm partners
  • Possesses a NYC food handler’s permit or willing to obtain one in a timely manner
  • 2+ years of professional pastry experience required
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace preferred
  • Weekend availability mandatory 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Operations- Commissary + Production 

  • Work closely with the entire Poppy’s in promoting the company's culture, mission and philosophy.
  • Work as a leader of the kitchen team during production. 
  • Ensure preparation is complete and execution is seamless. 
  • Communicate clearly with team members on any triumphs, shortcomings or needs from shift to shift, including creating a prep list for the next day.
  • Deals with facilities issues affecting production and alerts proper parties
  • Ingredient ordering
  • Managing inventory to be sent to cafe
  • Oversee quality control and bake off of cafe product

 

People + Training 

  • Ensure pastry cooks are adhering to their responsibilities and maintaining kitchen systems
  • Help train existing and new culinary team members on preparation, execution and plating of all menu items. Empower them to teach others as well.

 

Full Service Events + Administration

  • Assisting with printing kitchen sheets 
  • Help ensure that events are seamlessly prepared and executed according to schedule
