The Farmer’s Market branch plays a key role in achieving our vision by providing fresh, local and organic produce to the Chicagoland area.  The Farmers Market Coordinator will play a vital role in helping to maintain and build operations with-in the Farmer’s Market Branch.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinator for the Bronzeville and Pullman Farmers Markets                                                                                  

• Manage the Bronzeville Market operations and  coordinate site logistics for Market Vendors, tasks include: being the point of contact for Market Vendors and customers, perform outreach to surrounding area , speak with community stakeholders, help the Urban Canopy Market Manager with market logistics, track market attendance, collect vendor sales information.   

• At farmers markets, managers: help their team set up the UC booth, prepare a market sheet to log sales & any notable activity, interact with customers, network with other vendors, sign up customers to UC services, and re-stock booth products as needed. Once the market is over, managers coordinate with the team on the breakdown process, finalize market sales, help the team load product & supplies into vehicles, and drive back to headquarters. At headquarters, market supplies and products are loaded back into their appropriate areas, restocked, and market sales data is recorded.

• Assist Lead in managing and maintaining Farmers Market operations              

• Assist day-to-day farmers market operations: placing orders, receiving orders, prep market logistics, pre- and post-market processes.

• Assist farmers market database maintenance which include: sales tracking, market contacts, market orders, and inventories. 

• Implement Market Strategy                        

• Report to the Trunk on progress and challenges, track metrics, and continue to refine strategies to meet or exceed the branch’s planned goals.

• Preserve communication with current partner farms, market managers, community members and seek out opportunities to build relationships with new potential partners, suppliers, and buyers.

• In partnership with the Market Lead and Market Team, meet or exceed financial goals set in the annual budget, ensuring programs and initiatives are supported by the necessary resources.
