Job description

Stanton Home is hiring a Garden Program Staff! Join our team of dedicated professionals working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities!

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to partner with adults with diverse abilities to actively pursue healthy, self-determined lives.

The garden program staff position is a dynamic job that involves the maintenance of gardens that include three 2,000 square foot greenhouses and several acres of garden and production fields.  This position includes working with adults with special needs in the day program and/or the residential program setting, as well as coordinating with staff and volunteers for land use tasks. The garden program staff engage in activities working with the diverse group of program participants, staff and volunteers. 

The goal of our garden program is to engage our program participants in every step of the process in the production of vegetables, flowers, and herbs for use in the Stanton Home community. The produce grown at Stanton Home currently gets distributed to our residential homes, to day program participants, as well as being used in our Culinary Program and sold at our Farm Store.   

Requirements:

  • Experience and confidence as a grower and gardener is preferred (Additional training will be provided)
  • Experience in education and/or working with special needs individuals preferred but not required.
  • Be a self-starter and execute projects.
  • Flexibility in hours is preferred, including possible rotating weekend hours and holidays to be shared among team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and as a team to maintain the greenhouse, gardens, post-production distribution, and overall systems of the Day Program.
  • Support Program Participants in activities and programming with consideration of their needs, abilities and interests.
  • Ensure given activities, schedules, routines are consistently followed. 
  • Maintain a creative environment in which Program Participants are active in their programming to the best of their capabilities.
  • As needed, follow through on completion of any activities beyond what is completed in programming with participants.

Hourly Rate is based on experience and education

* We offer a $500 hire bonus after a successful 3 month (500 hours) employment*

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation competitive based on experience

Job Type: Full-time
