  • Location Glen Ellen, CA
  • Category Culinary
  • Job type Part-Time
Company description Located in the heart of Sonoma, in a place known as the Valley of the Moon, this diverse and wondrous geothermal springs sanctuary is the last of its kind. Bordering Sonoma Creek and nestled among a mature canopy of large oaks with open meadows and rolling hills, these Springs uplift the very best of whole family wellness and recreation. People have come to these Springs for centuries to soak in the healing waters and to gather. Today people come individually, or as groups for picnics and reunions, retreats and organizational meetings, birthdays and weddings, and for nature-based youth camps and field trips.

We are very proud of our organic pool-side Cafe 108°! With a passion “to nourish and delight bodies big and small with honest food, direct from Sonoma’s sun and soil,” we serve some delicious drinks and food offerings. All of our offerings are organic certified or "organic in practice," with much of our menu made in house with ingredients and produce sourced from local farms, bakeries and dairies and ranches. We currently have a full line of espresso bar drinks made with Taylor Lane Coffee and Straus Family Creamery. We also serve our house-made, organic Myer Lemonade (that we make by fresh-squeezing lemons from Sebastopol’s DMS Ranch), Yunnan Black Silk Road Ice Tea, and our refreshing Sparkling Mineral Water straight from our source!

Currently our food offerings include our hearty, 100% pasture-raised beef hot dogs from our newest addition, Napa’s Five Dot Ranch, served on milk hoagies from Santa Rosa’s Village Bakery with homemade pickles & kraut. And… our popular Grilled Cheese sandwich is made with two kinds of cheeses from Sonoma’s Vella Cheese Company, a Mezzo Secco dry jack and an aged sharp white cheddar, melted on rustic country bread from Cotati’s Red Bird Bakery and served with a baby gem side salad. We’re also serving a fresh entrée sized seasonal Farmer’s Market Salad with greens and fresh produce from Sonoma’s Paul’s Produce and other Sonoma Farmer’s Market farms, as well as our grilled NB&J’s (Nut Butter & Jams! -made with either organic peanut or sunflower seed butter). And there’s no forgetting the now famous Straus Family Creamery soft-serve ice cream, of course, with house-made fresh toppings du jour, such as lemon kiss, olive oil and salt, chocolate fudge and strawberry bliss.

Job description CAFE STAFF / BARISTA at CAFE 108°

We’re hiring a few new teammates to join our cafe staff/barista team at our seasonal counter-service farm-to-table cafe & coffee bar. Café 108° serves visitors coming to a beloved and historic hot spring daytime resort from May through September. We’re looking to fill these positions as soon as possible–ideally all will be hired by the end of April and starting in the first half of May. (For one or two last spots we may still be hiring into late May–with a start date at the absolute latest of mid-June. If our website still lists this position it remains open and we encourage all qualified applicants to apply.)

This position can be part-time with a minimum of one (1) shift day/week, however, qualified candidates desiring more hours can work a full-time schedule. The available shifts largely fall on Tuesdays-Sundays, but those who can consistently work either Saturdays or Sundays, or both, from May through to the end of September will enjoy shift priority as well as the most robust tips. (If desired, qualified applicants may additionally apply for positions/shifts in other spheres–e.g. Gate Guardian, Lifeguardian, etc. Most, but not all, of our staff enjoy working multiple spheres, both to build a personalized position/custom schedule, and to support overall team resiliency and cohesion.)

Those with a love of food & people, farm-to-table culinary arts, regenerative farming, and eating organically for the health of our bodies and planet will find themselves the strongest match for our small-team culture co-creating healthy, pleasurable, nourishing and inclusive experiences. Our ideal cafe staff/barista candidate is also someone who is excited to grow with our organization by returning to work at Café 108° season after season building upon their expertise and experience, and, if desired, taking on greater responsibility and seniority with each passing year.
