Company description Caney Fork Farms (CFF) is a diversified regenerative organic farm in middle Tennessee. Our mission is to inspire others with living proof that regenerative organic farming in our region benefits farmers, the environment, and the community. CFF produces mixed vegetables, chestnuts, 100% grass-fed beef and lamb and pasture raised pork and we sell directly to consumers in our region. Our work is centered around the soil with a focus on carbon farming practices that store atmospheric C02 below ground. In addition to farm production, we have a robust research program studying different organic agriculture methods and how those methods impact soil health, carbon sequestration and overall agroecosystem health. INTRODUCTION  

The Sales/Farmer’s Market Associate is a part of the Sales & Marketing Team, reporting directly to the Sales & Marketing Manager. The Sales Associate plays a key role in maintaining the farm’s economic sustainability. They are essential to connecting CFF’s organic, regeneratively raised food to individuals, families, restaurants, and retailers in our community. The Sales Associate is responsible for the organization of post-harvest products, delivering products, and selling to customers at farmers markets.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

• Providing friendly customer service and sales at Farmers Markets
• Delivering all products/deliveries on time
• Packing products in clean, organized, and safe manner
• Keeping freezer and delivery truck organized and clean
• Coordinating farmers market products and sales with FT Sales Associate and Sales & Marketing Manager
• Representing the company’s values when off the farm
• Telling the story of the farm

 

DAILY OVERSIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend Farmers Markets on Tuesday and Saturday
• Attend East Nashville Farmers Market on Tuesday afternoon/early evening
• Attend Richland Park Farmers Market on Saturday morning
• Load and drive delivery truck on Tuesday and Saturday for Farmers Markets
• Provide CSA orders to customers picking up
• Sell veggies and meat to farmers market customers
• Provide excellent customer service
• Receiving product
  • Pick up meat from the processor on Tuesday
  • Provide weights to Sales & Marketing Manager
• Distributing product
  • Deliver Wholesale orders in Nashville on Tuesday
• Managing Freezer and other workspaces (delivery van)
  • Keep freezer and delivery van clean and organized
• Communicating with internal team members and external stakeholders
  • Sales & Marketing Manager, FT Sales Associate, Customers, Farmers Market Management, Additional Farmers Market workers

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION 

• Valid Driver’s license
• Customer Service Skills
• Ability to work outdoors at farmers markets in rain or shine
• Experience with Excel spreadsheets
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 60 lbs) repeatedly
• Ability to work in the freezer for extended periods of time
• Attention to detail (very important)
• Ability to manage time (i.e. managing multiple deliveries, each with own set delivery time)
• Adaptability: Ability to receive and complete tasks with short notice

• Farmers Markets in all types of weather
• In the driver’s cab of 2019 Ram 3500 with custom refrigerated unit
• In the 0ºF freezer
• In the air-conditioned / heated office
• In the wash-pack, sharing space with Veggie Team
