Company description

Five Acre Farm is an organic family farm located in Kennebunkport, Maine.  Products grown and produced on the farm include: cut flowers, organic produce and vegetables, herbs, plants and seedlings. The farm operates a commercial kitchen which provides fresh baked pies, cookies, granola and other baked goods.  Value added items include pesto and canned goods.

All of our products are sold at our farm stand which is located a half a mile from the farm down a gravel road.  We have been in operations since 2003 and continue to add infrastructure every year.  Potential for Housing.

Job description

The baker will be responsible for making from scratch cookies, pies and other baked goods as well as processing our herbs and vegetables to be made into pesto or other canned items.  We ask that applicants be self motivated, eager to learn, be able to find work to do without constant supervision and have knowledge of most aspects of baking.  Applicants will be expected to work their shift without unnecessary personal media usage with phones or computers. 

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

The essential function include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare cookie dough as well as bake cookies daily
  • Prepare and bake pies
  • Package baked goods for retail while keeping quality control
  • Deliver with company van items to farm stand
  • Use manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim food.
  • Wash, peel and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or icings, using scales or graduated containers.
  • Set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for baking
  • Set time and speed controls for mixing machines, so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions
  • Prepare or maintain inventory or production records
  • Arrive on time and give ample notice of requests for time off.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, aesthetic appearance and food safety protocol. 

Qualifications:

  • Have good personal hygiene
  • Ability to work efficiently with a positive attitude in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs..
  • Must be dependable and reliable
  • Have good time management skills.
  • Be detail oriented and be capable of producing consistent products daily.
