Kitchen Operations Manager - Steve & Cookies By the Bay

Location: Margate, NJ

Position Overview:

We seek a talented and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our culinary team. The Kitchen Manager will work closely with our Executive Chef and owner to ensure the highest food quality standards, consistency, and presentation are always maintained. The ideal candidate will be a creative culinary professional with a passion for fine dining, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Executive Chef in menu planning, development, and execution of culinary concepts that align with our restaurant's vision and standards.
  2. Oversee and participate in dish preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  3. Lead and supervise kitchen staff without the Executive Chef, providing guidance, training, and motivation to maintain high productivity and morale.
  4. Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering and receiving ingredients and supplies to ensure sufficient stock levels and minimize waste.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, following all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  6. Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline kitchen operations and improve efficiency.
  7. Uphold a culture of excellence and professionalism within the culinary team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  8. Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and best practices, continuously seeking professional growth and development opportunities.
  9. Manage employee to employee relations through regular check-ins and daily engagement in each part of the kitchen and the respective staff.
  10. Cultivate and foster a positive and collaborative relationship between the kitchen staff and the front of house management and staff.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or senior line cook in a fine dining restaurant or upscale culinary establishment.
  2. A culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institute is preferred.
  3. Extensive knowledge of classical and contemporary cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and ingredient pairings.
  4. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively delegate tasks and motivate team members.
  5. Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  6. Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  8. A Food Handler's Certificate or Food Safety Certification is a plus.
