We are a baker’s business partner connecting buyers and sellers to build profitable bakeries. Together with our members, we create industry-specific training programs and develop small business programs. We foster the community of retail bakeries providing a forum for exchange of industry and business information, as well as networking, learning opportunities and mentoring among bakers, future and existing. We also create industry standards through professional certification, industry research and school programs.

Job description

The RBA is accepting applications for an Education & Events Coordinator who will be responsible for supporting the planning, and implementation of RBA Certification & Education events. This role demands skills in all aspects of event, meeting, and conference planning, including cost containment, venue scouting, equipment logistics, room setup and best practices.

RBA seeks an experienced, highly energetic, and detail-oriented coordinator who has both the capacity, and demonstrated track record, to carry out the following duties and responsibilities in an effective, efficient, and highly professional manner. The candidate will be expected to contribute broadly to all aspects of the association’s programs and directions. The Education & Events Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director.  

The ideal candidate will support long and short-term strategies which will include the expansion and organization of the RBA Education programs. RBA has a tradition of strong personal connection and support for members of the baking community. This position is required to attend industry events and host association functions always promoting the organization and highlighting the benefits of membership and certification.

To achieve success as the Education & Events Coordinator, the individual needs to be both independent and a team player. Performance of the duties associated with this responsibility requires a professional capable of inspiring and motivating prospective members and candidates as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 

The Education & Events Coordinator will have a demonstrated ability to perform the following duties:

  • Manage all aspects of event planning for both in-person & virtual events.
  • Plan and facilitate logistics for all events, including attendee lists, venue preparation, presentation materials, catering, transportation, equipment, and marketing materials.
  • Plan and facilitate logistics for virtual events, including communications with registered attendees, creating and managing webinar links and creating any supporting materials.
  • Nurture and build relationships with vendors, venues and other industry contacts when implementing the creative and logistical aspects of all events.
  • Remain current with trends and the latest industry techniques and employ them as deemed appropriate.
  • Oversee attendee experience from conceptions through post-event review, manage on-site preparations and event breakdown; and ensure a consistent, high-level experience throughout all stages of the event.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database of industry contacts, vendors and venues. 

 

Requirements:

  • 4 Year Degree and/or Certified Master Baker/Certified Baker status.
  • Excellent written / oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and in the latest information technology, social media and audio/visual aids.
  • 3-5 years of education and related experience.
  • Self-motivated with solid organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work from home as the RBA currently has a virtual office.
  • Part-time schedule will be flexible but some office hours required for ability to answer phone calls during traditional business hours.
  • Some travel required but will be covered by the Retail Bakers of America.

Salaried Employee:

  • This position is a part-time, salaried position.
  • There is potential to make this a more permanent position over time as the Education & Certification program expands.
