Job requirements include but are not limited to:
- Create work schedules for all kitchen staff and volunteers
- Train all kitchen employees and volunteers
- Maintain all standard health department guidelines
- Ensure that all food-based events are appropriately staffed and executed smoothly
- All areas of the kitchen should be cleaned daily with deep cleaning to take place as necessary
- Maintain the space to be fully code compliant at all times
- Maintain clear, appropriate signage at all times on up-to-date menu items, any information pertaining to ingredients from local farms, and all food based events
- Keep the walk in, freezers and dry storage clean and organized
- Use a display to highlight one local agricultural vendor per week on pizza night
- Highlight ingredients from local farms in the area
- Appeal to a wide variety of tastes and individuals with dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, paleo)
- Perfect recipes and specials that bring back repeat customers, such as taco and burger night
Collaborate closely with the Director to:
- Ensure that all food-based events are properly marketed and executed
- Maintain a clean, useable community facility
- Keep clear, accurate records of food based events and café activity (for fundraising efforts)
Be responsible for the commercial kitchen space
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality for individuals renting the space
- Market the space to keep it occupied as much as possible and be responsible for billing and payment records
- Communicate with the Director to ensure the space is functional and code compliant at all times
Complete weekly food/supply inventories prior to placing orders
- Work with the Director to establish and follow a budget with ordering guidelines
- Be present to check in orders and correct errors on delivery, turn in invoices promptly
- Ensure adequate ingredients are available for the café and all food based events
- Prioritize sourcing ingredients from local farms to be highlighted in menu items and meals
- Work to save money on food ordering through resourcefulness and ingenuity, not low quality ingredients
Complete weekly beer/wine inventories prior to placing orders
- Work with the director on appropriate order frequency
- Be present to check in orders and correct errors on delivery
- Turn in invoices immediately following delivery
Required skills:
- Be welcoming and charismatic with customers and staff
- Knowledgeable about specials or new menu items
- Communicate clearly with customers about locally sourced ingredients.
- Be highly communicative with the director, staff and board.
- Have experience in food service management.
Skills that would be a plus:
- Wood-fired pizza prep and cooking
- Proficient in Square POS System
- Baking experience
- Food Costing experience
