To combat that lack of access, TWI operates a mobile grocer, farmer's market and two brick and mortar locations, as well as four urban farms. Job Summary 

The Ag Project Specialist will assist in the management of onsite farm work on the TWI farm sites. Duties include:

  • Supervise regular maintenance of site and infrastructure
  • Work with TWI Sustainable Initiatives team to create and execute on annual growing and operations plans. 
  • Assist on all farm operations, including planting, irrigating, and harvesting and coordinating off-season activities
  • Facilitate education and outreach elements of the project, including volunteer coordination and providing technical guidance to team members and partners
  • Compiling and inputting records on each crop
  • Creating and maintaining positive relationships with our land partner(s)
  • Ensuring the locations are properly allocating resources and managing expenses, including assisting in maintaining the operation’s budget
  • Monitoring and adhering to customer expectations to ensure their satisfaction, including implementing quality and service programs
  • Coordinating with the Grocer, Mobile Grocer, and Food Programs Managers to ensure an adequate flow of produce to meet all needs
  • Researching best practices, innovations, and crop varieties to optimize production
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of research projects in association with government and academic partners. 
 

Qualifications 

  • Management experience in government, nonprofit or business management, including working independently and in collaboration with community-based organizations preferred but not required. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in and commitment to organizational efficiency.
  • Excellent written communication, speaking, and public relations skills. 
  • Open minded, flexible and has the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Ability to work in challenged urban environments 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites preferred but will train. 

Physical Requirements: Work has potential for extensive field work. Travel (including overnight travel) may be required, as necessary but 90%+ local in Memphis. Remote working is acceptable on an as needed basis as determined by the leadership team. 

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License, and licenses and certifications as needed to perform
