Bon Me is run by Boston-bred duo Patrick Lynch and Ali Fong. The business was born in 2010 when the two decided to enter the City of Boston’s Food Truck Contest on a whim and surprised themselves by winning. With their win came the opening of the first Bon Me truck in 2011.

Five years and lots of sandwiches, rice bowls, and noodle salads later, Bon Me has expanded to seven bright and colorful food trucks and five restaurants in Kendall SquareFort Point, Fresh Pond, Boston Public Market and the newly opened Chestnut Hill Square. All locations are proudly serving the Boston and Cambridge communities bold, fresh, and fun Asian cuisine.

Job description

The Director of Restaurants is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, which include five current restaurants (and a couple upcoming restaurants) in Boston, Cambridge, and Newton. You will work with our restaurant managers to develop and maintain consistent restaurant operations that produce high-quality food, deliver efficient and friendly service, develop a great workplace for our employees, and build our brand reputation and image. You will also work closely with our corporate team to develop the support systems that can help us develop our crew, build business, and track our progress. Ultimately, the goal for the Director of Restaurants is to create a restaurant-management model that can be used across all of our restaurants to help us grow our presence in Boston, and eventually, to expand to other cities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations at all of our restaurants, ensuring day-to-day consistency while setting and maintaining high standards for service and operations by identifying and implementing system improvements
  • Develop our restaurant managers by improving their personnel management skills and furthering their professional development and career goals;
  • Develop our entire restaurant team by setting employment policies, developing and implementing training programs, assisting with promotion decisions, and determining hiring needs across all locations;
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy restaurant spaces by establishing sanitation standards and procedures and complying with health and legal regulations;
  • Collaborate with the marketing department and managers to create marketing plans for each location that increase customer engagement and help develop that location as part of the community;
  • Set a positive, professional, and enthusiastic tone that engages staff in helping to establish brand consistency and building excitement our company;
  • Review and monitor financial and operating performance of the restaurants, and develop plans to improve performance at all locations -- focusing particular attention on newer or slower locations where the opportunity for growth is the largest;

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in food management
  • Experience managing employees at the supervisor or manager level
  • Experience developing and implementing restaurant operating systems and policies
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about improving our restaurants
  • Ability to create a positive work environment where employee development and customer service are emphasized
