Summary:

The role of the Farm Business Support Developer is to provide business education, planning and support for prospective, beginning and underserved farmers. The Farm Business Support developer will conduct trainings, info sessions and one on one consultations with farmers, as well as lead the planning and execution of a conference offering opportunities for education, training, networking and advancement. The Farm Business Support Developer will work with the managers of West Broad Market Garden and Williams Farm to oversee and coordinate markets for produce from both farms, develop market opportunities for our network of farmers, and integrate produce from our farmers into various markets.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field
  • Minimum three years experience working with beginning and underserved farmers/ranchers/producers
  • Experience leading projects and building community partnerships  
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, comfortable taking initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate farm business development info sessions and workshops
  • Provide one on one consultation, technical assistance and business planning support to target population of farmers/producers
  • Plan and coordinate a sustainable agriculture conference for new, beginning, underserved and small farmers/producers
  • Coordinate a small grower and value added producer network, including supply chain development and operations
  • Work with Director of Operations to manage ALT Farms financial tracking and reporting
