Company description The Hurricane Island Center for Science & Leadership (HICSL) is a transformative learning community on Hurricane Island, in Penobscot Bay, Maine.  We offer experiential science and leadership programs in STEM disciplines including marine biology & ecology, ocean monitoring & research, island ecology & botany, environmental studies, and sustainable design & technology. We are hiring staff to lead and manage our Galley team! We are hiring a Kitchen Manager/Head Cook, Cook and Kitchen Assistants.  All positions, including the Kitchen Manager/Head Cook position, would live and work on Hurricane Island, and would be the primary person in charge of the “Galley” (our commercial kitchen, complete with a beautiful ocean front view) and is responsible for provisioning, planning and preparing three meals for the island community of 20-60 people, depending on the day and the programs on the island. The island and kitchen is a fun and dynamic environment and requires people who can help create a welcoming and open environment, are well organized and efficient, and that will reflect HICSL’s core mission of education, leadership and sustainability.
